友人に教えてもらった「Runkeeper」というアプリが面白いです．走ったルートをGPSで記録して，ジョギング後にGoogleMapと重ね合わせて表示できるものなのですが，自分が通った道を可視化できるのは秀逸です．「あ、この橋を渡ったなあ」とか「この角を曲がった」くらいの解像度まで，自分の移動した経路がはっきりわかります．使い方はそれぞれですが，走った時間や距離が残るため重宝する人も多いかと思います（むしろこちらが主な用途かも）．まだ日本語化されていませんが，こんな日本語の紹介記事もありました．iPhone, Android 両バージョンあって，英語も最低限のものなので，興味がある方はおすすめします．

ところで，自分は旅行中，予備知識なく新しい街を訪れて，ひたすら歩くのが好きです．少しひねくれているかもしれませんが，せっかくの旅行を，「ガイドブックに載ってるものが実際にあるか確認して，ガイドブックで美味しいと言われているものが美味しいか確認する」作業に費やしては，大変もったいないと思うのです．さらに，良く知らない編集者が仕事だから書いてみたかもしれない「3 places you must visit」みたいな場所の間はタクシーですっ飛ばしてしまうなら，なおさらもったいないでしょう．もちろん有名だったり，ちやほやされているものには価値がある可能性も否定できないので，程度の問題かもしれません．一方で，良く知らない人の感受性をあてにして自分の行動を決めるのも，何だかよくわかりません．ということもあって，ガイドブックなどは帰国した後，自分が感動したものにどんなストーリーがあったのかと，事後的に答え合わせに使うのも１つの使い方なのかな，と思います．

少し話がずれましたが，この「Runkeeper」のGPSトラッキングの機能は，徒歩の街歩き愛好者の，旅行経路のトラッキングに使っても面白いかな，と思っています．さほど奇抜なアイデアでもないので，もう既に似たアプリはあるのかもしれませんが，特に自分は知らない街の徒歩移動が好きなので，後からどこを歩いたか確認してみたいと思うのです．もちろん徒歩ではなくても，現状のアプリでサンプリングのレートは変えられるので（最短で１秒毎にGPSデータを取ることは可能），船，電車，バスなどでもある程度使えるかと思います．

今思うだけでも，マラケシュの旧市街を歩いて迷ったとき，ウクライナからポーランドの国境を徒歩で抜けたとき，ヨーロッパ大陸の最北端や最西端に行ったとき，台湾の緑島を自転車で一周したとき，ドニエプル川やエーヤワディー川を船で移動したとき，全てもし後から移動経路と地図を眺められたりするのなら，一日中にやにやしてそうです（笑）．次回どこか旅行に行くときに使ってみようと思いますが，もし私と同じような趣味があって近々旅行に行く方，ぜひ試してみて，使い心地を教えて下さい．また，もしもっと適したアプリなどあれば，ぜひ教えて欲しいです．

    I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.
    I have had a difficult time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.
    I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10
    to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints?

  48. Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
